So you want to learn henna! I can’t blame you. It’s a wonderful art that is fun to wear but even more fun to do! We offer several options for learning henna, whether you just want to do it for fun or are thinking about going pro.
Mektoub Marrakesh Creative Retreat

Henna for Real - the Pro Pathway
If you’re serious about becoming a henna artist, whether pro or for your friends, the following classes comprise the ideal syllabus for you. Each class builds on what you learned in the previous. As the only person in the class you will have individualized instruction and support that is appropriate for your level of skill and knowledge.
The classes are a half hour each and get right to the point; you will learn exactly what you need to know and go home with henna and instructions so you can practice on your own; see descriptions below. You can repeat any class for a refresher or a deeper dive on that subject. Take these one at a time, or string a few together. Schedule two (or more) classes back to back and you’ll get a discount. Each class is $50 (including class materials and take home henna). All classes are available in my studio or via Zoom. Please specify your preference when booking.
Paste Makers Class
In this half hour class you’ll learn the fundamentals to making your own henna paste, a key step to doing awesome henna. You’ll learn how to source the finest ingredients, test your paste for maximum staining power, and how to get the perfectly silky paste you desire.

Henna Cone Class
In this half hour class you’ll learn to roll the perfect henna cone, how to fill it and how to seal it. A good and well-sealed cone is your best friend as a henna artist; it makes everything else you do in henna much easier. You’ll also learn the best recycled materials you can turn into henna cones to make my signature henna cone.

Henna Drawing Class
In this half hour class you’ll learn to start drawing with henna. You’ll learn basic techniques for holding the cone and drawing basics. You’ll learn how to draw beautiful straight lines and also juicy leaves and petals. You can take this class as the next in the series, but you don’t need to know how to make paste or roll cones to take this class.

Moroccan Henna Class
In this half hour class you’ll learn the basics of drawing Moroccan henna designs, famous for their gorgeously complex geometry and bold style. While the Henna Drawing class is not a prerequisite, it will help if you know the basics of how to use a henna cone to draw.

Indian Henna Class
In this half hour class you’ll learn the basics of drawing Indian henna designs, full of beautiful flowers, paisleys, vines and leaves. While the Henna Drawing class is not a prerequisite, it will help if you know the basics of how to use a henna cone to draw.

Mandala Henna Class
In this half hour class you’ll learn how to build complex mandalas using basic shapes. You will learn how to plan your design to guide you while your creativity flows in this meditative drawing exercise. While the Henna Drawing class is not a prerequisite, it will help if you know the basics of how to use a henna cone to draw.

Henna Hero Hangout
We are hosting a new kind of event that we call a kind of Drink and Draw evening for your squad. Hang out in my Brooklyn loft enjoying snacks and drinks (BYOB) while you learn about henna and draw on each other. Schedule it on a Friday night for a fun hang before you go to dinner or the club, or do it as a Sunday brunch event, before the mimosas and eggs benedict are ordered. You’ll even get henna to take home with you. The more the merrier but 7 people maximum. $125—1 hour

This is the same as the Private Henna Class but done via Skype so you can attend from anywhere! This 90-minute class is one-on-one instruction that is tailored to your specific needs.
