Aftercare Information
Quality: The color and longevity of your henna or jagua stain depends a LOT on aftercare, which happens in the hours following your appointment and is all up to you! There is a brief section below which provides more details on aftercare, but we will talk more about it during your appointment as well. Both henna and jagua stain the darkest and last the longest on the hands and feet - anywhere from one to three weeks. You should expect a lighter stain on legs, arms, and torso, which will last about a week.
Henna Aftercare Instructions: Once the henna design is applied, you will see it dry within the first 30 minutes. You will need to leave on for a total of 6 to 12 hours, depending on the location of your henna. Hands and feet will need a minimum of 6 hours, while the rest of the body needs 8 to 12 hours for best results.
Once the necessary time has passed, scrape off the dried paste but do NOT wash it off. If it’s bright orange at first, after removing the paste the paste, don't worry. The stain will gradually darken over the next 24-48 hours, turning a deep and rich reddish-brown color. It’s critical that you keep this area dry for up to 12 hours after the paste removal for the stain to fully develop on your skin.
Jagua Aftercare Instructions: Do not get jagua if you have any allergies to citrus or strawberries. Once the jagua design is applied, it remains wet and smudgable for about 1-1.5 hours. You will need to leave the jagua gel on for about 4-6 hours. Even when the gel has dried, it can still stain clothing, furniture, and skin. DO NOT fall asleep with jagua gel on your skin or you may end up transferring it to other parts of your body, and it is very difficult to remove. Do not wrap anything around the jagua design as this may cause it to smudge or melt.
After the 4-6 hours has passed, you can wash the jagua gel off with soap and water, making sure NO gel is left on the skin. The design will be VERY faint, like a grey shadow but will develop its full color after 8-24 hours. No other aftercare is required after you wash off the gel.
