Pure Moroccan Henna...for hair only The same Moroccan henna that you know and love, but sifted less than the henna used for body art so it is excellent for dyeing your hair. Henna is a transparent dye that coats the hair shaft, binding with the keratin. It conditions the hair giving it shine and body, in addition to a rich red color. Because it is a transparent dye, it will not change the color of your hair, only coat it with color. Therefore, black hair with just have a reddish sheen when seen in direct sunlight, but blonde hair will become a brilliant orange and brown hair will become a deep shade of auburn. If you are dyeing your hair to cover the grey, the grey hairs will come out a bright, almost pink orange. It is not recommended that you henna hair that has been recently dyed with chemical dyes, or that has been permed. There is a strong likelihood that the henna will react in unpredictable ways with the chemicals in your hair. It is strongly suggested that, before you henna all your hair, you test the henna on some hair from your hairbrush or bits cut off from a recent haircut. Maison Kenzi cannot be responsible for the results of hennaing your hair with our henna but we will provide you with as much information as possible to bring about the results that you want. Pure Indian Indigo Powder...for hair only This pure, fresh indigo powder is shipped by air freight directly from India sealed to maintain freshness. Indigo is used in conjuntion with henna powder to dye the hair. Added to henna paste and applied to the hair, indigo will give a slightly browner color, sometimes achieving near black. The dye from indigo does not remain in the hair as long as henna; it lasts about 1-2 months. Instructions for maximum grey coverage: apply henna to hair as normal, and then after washing it out, or sometime in the next week do an application of henna and indigo ("henndigo"). Henndigo mixing instructions: put henna and indigo in separate bowls (50g each for long hair, less for shorter hair) and add hot water to each bowl; just add enough hot water to make a thick paste; mix each paste in its separate bowl and let them sit for about 15-30 minutes; keep an eye on the bowl of indigo because once the surface of the paste has darkened to a deep blue it is ready to use; in a larger bowl mix the henna paste and the indigo paste together thoroughly; add more water to achieve the consistency that you desire; put the paste into a ziploc bag or a plastic bottle to apply (if you use a ziploc bag, seal the bag and cut a 1/4 inch hole in the corner out of which you can squeeze the paste onto your hair). Hennadigo application instructions: On either wet or dry hair, apply the hennadigo paste to sections of hair making sure to get down to the roots as well as to the ends of your hair with the paste; continue to apply henndigo to your hair in this manner and if you have any leftover paste, smear that over your entire head; put a plastic shower cap or saran wrap over your hair, covering all the hennadigo paste and then wrap a scarf or a towel around that to keep it all in place (the henndigo paste will stain fabric so use something you don't mind staining); leave the paste on your hair for 1-2 hours and then wash out using only water, NO shampoo; your color will be darker and last longer if you refrain from using shampoo for 24-48 hours after your henndigo application; there will probably still be henna and indigo in your hair after rinsing so when you go to bed be sure to protect your pillow with a towel. It is not recommended that you henna/indigo hair that has been recently dyed with chemical dyes, or that has been permed. There is a strong likelihood that the henna and/or indigo will react in unpredictable ways with the chemicals in your hair. It is strongly suggested that, before you henna/indigo all your hair, you test the henna/indigo on some hair from your hairbrush or bits cut off from a recent haircut. Henna Gloves - reusable $6/pair These are cotton knit Chinese gardener's gloves. They are great for holding your henna in place; they stretch just enough to get it over your hand without dislodging the paste. These gloves are reusable and can last for years; if they get stained with henna you can just toss them in the washing machine. Once the paste of your design is dry, just lemon-sugar your design, and then slip on the glove very carefully. You can also wrap your hand in toilet paper, and then put the glove over this. Essential oils rich in terpine (all of those listed below) have the ability to help darken the henna stain very quickly. Adding any of these oils to your paste will give you dramatically darker stains in less time. Choose an oil whose fragrance you like or choose by price; all the oils listed below have roughly the same effect on the stain quality. I usually add about 10 drops for every tablespoon of paste. Enjoy!

Certificate Terms Gift certificates for henna services can ONLY be redeemed in the New York City area; our henna artists will not travel beyond the limits of the New York City subway system to provide services. Recipient can redeem the gift certificate via the website and then arrange the details of the date, time and location with the artist via email or phone. Once the details are agreed upon recipient will receive a conirmation email which acts as a contract for the services. Cancellation of an appointment must be received at least one week before the agreed-upon date in order to receive a refund. Gift certificates cannot be redeemed for cash. Our henna artists reserve the right to refuse service and purchaser will be entitled to a full refund.

Domestic orders are usually shipped within a week. International orders take about 1-2 weeks for delivery depending on your location. Domestic express shipping must be received before 3 pm EST to be shipped the same day and orders usually arrive the next day.

If not entirely satisfied with a product please return it within 30 days of purchase and Maison Kenzi will refund your money or exchange the product. Shipping charges are not refundable. Henna powder must be kept in a cool, dark place in a sealed bag or container; Maison Kenzi is not responsible for any defect resulting from improper storage of your henna. Maison Kenzi stands behind its products; our henna is air-shipped from Morocco to guarantee maximum freshness and thus, its staining ability. Our artists use the same henna powder that we sell on the site. Because henna is a natural product some variation can be expected from crop to crop but we always test the powder to make sure it is up to our high standards. If you are having a problem with the henna powder, please email us and we will try to help you out. Sometimes you may have to change your recipe or your methods to get your paste perfect, and we will help you in any way we can.
